Ww2 online battleground europe map5/9/2023 ![]() ![]() They were going to get the game back on the shelves and by this time now there would be a new theater, North Afrika. Longevity, life of the game? Last year they announced BIG BIG plans (more bullshit) about re-launching the game under a new name (Battleground Europe) and with a new publisher.Ordnance server, North Afrika, TE II, 3d volumetric clouds, weather, realistic bathymetric sea, submarines, four-engine bombers. the biggest fault lies not with the game itslef but with the devs, namely the ones calling the shots (not the unsung coders and artists we never hear of) If I had a nickel for every lofty goal CRS said they would accomplish but never do I would be the richest motherfucking pimp on my street.I recently re-upped my account and it’s pretty much as the same ole same ole – When are we going to get this and that? When is such and such bug going to be fixed? and the answer is NOT IN YOUR LIFETIME, bud. glaicial rate of development - they’re a very small team (which got even smaller) and they have air, land, and sea to cater to but it takes an agonizingly long wait for new shit to appear in game. From those that I know that participated in it they all described it as like having a second job. Oh sure you can become apart of the HQ system if you’d like but only if you’re retired and/or disabled. The power of squads to go where THEY want to go have been forcibly removed and placed into the hands of the wannabe Rommels and Montgomery’s. High Command/Area of Operations scheme – you are either with the HQ or you might as well not bother to play at all.I always chuckle when WoW players say their game is looking long in the tooth these days. Oh and the graphics are really looking dated. Performance – you pretty much need a beefy rig to run this thing adequately ESPECIALLY if you like flying but even on the ground I can experience FPS dips in the high teens in heavily contested towns and this is with the player visibility set to its lowest. ![]() ![]() That person too lost his job at CRS and now there’s NOBODY to work on the flight models in game. This stems from the fact that shortly after launch they laid off their phsyiscs/flight model guru and replaced him someone wholly inadequate for the job. emphasis on simulation - it’s an approximation of reality and sometimes you can get some pretty bizarre results with the physics engine especially in the realm of flying.emphasis on simulation over actiony stuff like you see in PlanetsideĬons: Ok time for the ex-fanbois-axe-to-grind-shit.armored warfare - this I think is WW2OL’s greatest strength and I think it’s the best that’s out there, far superior to the armored warfare that’s modeled in Aces High 2 - if you love tanks you’ll probably love WW2OL.When these elements coalesce you are treated to some of the most intense and visceral combat action you can experience on a computer. Think Red Orchestra but with 6 (or is it 8?) km visibility and airplanes, ships, and lots of tanks. combined arms combat on a MMOG scale - it is cool to see players working together massing their forces to take a town.Blame the launch on Strategy First or blame it on CRS but from what I’ve read they’re both guilty of shipping the game in the state it was in. stability wise it’s vastly improved over the original Jversion that was sucked from the womb well before it was ready.Well as a long time player and former fanboi here’s my Newegg take on it:
